I like to read magazines as well as books.
I learned from this month’s Glamour issue some healthy cooking tips, how to eat only 1200 calories a day and feel full (yeah right!). I also got caught up on the lastest beauty and fashion trends, products as well.
So, you can imagine how shocked I was when I was nearing the end of the magazine and saw this ad:

What are they thinking?
I just learned to eat under 1200 calories a day and keep healthy, then they plaster something like that right in front of my starving eyes.
A BigMac has 540 calories in one sandwich incase you were wondering.
The ad says:
“Nothing Eats Like A BigMac“
WTF?!?! It should read next to that obscenely delicious, mouth-watering photo:
“Nothing Packs On Cellulite Faster Than A BigMac“
I like BigMacs, I find them very tastey…..I feel about them probably like a heroin addict feels about their dope. I cant get enough.
Lucky for me, going to McDonalds requires a serious road trip from where I live, otherwise, I’d probably weigh 400 pounds.
Dont get me wrong, I am not some freako calorie counting food obsessed chica…I am far far from it.
But damn, that photo of the yummy BigMac is soooo unfair.

Aniin BG. I love the pic of you and Scooter.
Ads in magazines have to be there in order to even have a magazine. Rut Gut food is what I call it.
Yes, I will have a Koi picture later this weekend.

that’s just plain mean and well RUDE. How dare they do that to a person. You know what you should sue them!!! Eyup, that’s what I would do.
Meeting @ work not so hot. Posted about it. But there is good news too….:)

You know, I never cared for the sauce they put on a big mac…so I have never been tempted.
Yep, they have to do some kind of marketing to get these anorexic models to actually dream about food–even if they won’t put it in there mouth.
Good for you on reading the 1200 a day. Give me that and make me full…I could lose weight- if the 1200 didn’t taste like cardboard.

I don’t really like big macs, but I’m still a little bit fat. Suppose I don’t move around enough, blogging all the time.
(Thanks for your visit and comments.)

McDonald’s only has one thing I like: coffee. Theirs is the BEST. Pizza is my downfall, and unfortunately, there are Pizza Huts in every direction. 7 miles to the east, 8 miles to the south. And the one Cliff and I love best, 25 miles away. His brother lives near that one, so of course every time we go to his brother’s, we HAVE to stop at that one immaculate, very special Pizza Hut… the one with the caring staff and the delicious “white stuff” no other Pizza Hut carries.

The kids drag me to McDonalds too often and to me I am like the picture looks better than the real things, of course right now my fav is the very unhealthy chicken select strips with honey mustard sauce yum.

BC26-nope, I dont believe in frivolous lawsuits…uhoh about the meeting. Hopefully your moving on to bigger and better things
rebecca-seriously? you dont like the sauce? omg, that makes the WHOLE sandwich! I NEVER said I could eat only 1200 calories a day, I ONLY read about doing it, hahaha too hard w/ the kiddos and cooking 3 squares for the family plus, I like to EAT.
HPY- I love your photos too!
donna-that is my sister J’s fave too. okay, now I am curious….whats the white stuff?
kelli-my boys like those chicken select strips too! we have to make a major roadtrip to get to a Mccykees around here-THANK GAWD!
July 13, 2007 at 7:30 am
lol! That’s awful! That reminds me of this strip near here that has a Jenny Craig place and right next to it there’s a Dunkin Donuts.
You’re right about the Big Macs, though. I think they sprinkle crack in them…

They were thinking if you ate “it” you’d have to buy the next month’s magazine for their latest workout!
July 13, 2007 at 8:54 am
I don’t like donuts, potato chips or big macs.
So explain why I look like I do???
I’ve noticed stories about eating disorders across from skinny models in ads.. and then stories of how fat is going to be the bankruptcy of Insurance companies across from the two layered cheese filled pizza crusts.
July 13, 2007 at 9:59 am
pavel-hahahaha, yes that’s it, those bigmacs are laced with crack! too funny
katie-good marketing strategy
pamela- are you serious? you dont eat any of those foods? omg, Iwish I had YOUR taste buds. I am SO GLAD I no longer work in the insurance industry…I call it legal FRAUD

My ‘drug’ of choice is chicken mcnuggets,I can eat a 20 piece box alllll to myself! That burger looks droooolicious!

I don’t do ANY fast food. (Unless Tim Hortons is considered fast, which would make my 15 minute wait in the drive through ridiculous),anyway, I don’t do fast food because of the smell. Even when I get a whiff driving by, I feel sick.
Also, when have you ever bought a big Mac that looks like that. Any I’ve seen are a sorry looking bun with wilted shredded lettuce and gooey pink sauce dribbling down the side.
BTW, there is a site called kopycat recipes that had a recipe for the sauce, I think it used Indian relish…
A great diet tip….. make sure you are eating 5 to 10 servings a day of fruit and veggies (preferably the higher), and take a 15 minute walk each day.
good luck

Funny thing is eating is like smoking
you sort of get used to twenty a day
I wonder who invented the pack of 20.
Ok, ok not the ’same’ as smoking
but three square meals a day was a naval invention
that’s right a British naval invention, if you are living on a ship all day what else can you do but eat – and square because the plates were SQUARE to prevent rolling.
So if you are going to add a set of square plates to your dining crockery – well the difference is they are crockety or fine china – and not wood.
But would you believe the pyramids were built on a half loaf of bread and a pint of beer – well the egyptian slaves weren’t known for their obesity.
They done a test with this super fit athlete. For two weeks he added a pound of cheese (yes a pound a day in weight) to his diet, and apart from what goes on inside, he put 2 inches around the waste. As he pointed out 50 weeks would have meant 50 inches? – lol!
Put him off cheese for life.
Mind you the good news, is after two weeks back to his regular diet (and exercise) he lost the two inches – and increased his lung capacity

Big Mac Attack!
I happen to know that all the magazine models live on Big Macs and still stay skinny! Well, it’s actually the Big Macs they snip out of the Big Mac magazine ad. That still counts, right? I mean one-dimensional people eating one-dimensional food doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
July 13, 2007 at 3:09 pm
lael-so can my 13yo son!
hope-I get plenty of exercise, I just need to quit shoveling food in my mouth!
RDK-you aint gonna find that here, the single cowboys maybe..
Q9-hey, thnx for that little history lesson. I NEVER knew where 3 squares came from, now I do
HPY-okay
EWBL-haha your right! “one-dimensional people eating one-dimensional food doesn’t seem so far-fetched.” DOESNT sound so far fetched…..and they migth even eat it in real life and just purge if they are bulimic
