I Need Something…..It’s Called Energy, I Think

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting It is Monday, official cleaning day at the homestead. So far, Ive unloaded the dishwasher, sorted laundry, and thats it. Maybe, after another cup of coffee I’ll get my lazy ass in gear. But, I have a very good reason for being so lazy. Wee one was up in the middle of the night again for about 2 hours, his ears, his skin allergy. He is still sleeping so I am trying to be quiet as a church mouse so he can get his rest. He had a fever but I gave him a dose of tylenol and it seems to have went away. I called his primary MD and we have a 1 pm appointment. Maybe we can get somewhere with the specialist’s recommendation. I am thankful for our Indian Health benefits but waiting for approval is taking forever! Hubby has good insurance from his company, but it is far too expensive for the whole family to be covered. Since hubby cannot get Indian Health Benefits, he has to have coverage. He is some kind of weird Cherokee Tribe, a tiny bit but I am pretty sure he has to travel for any benefits, Arkansas, maybe? I do not think his Tribe is recognized by our Gov’t yet. I should know these things but I do not, probly because I dont care right this minute……

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting A coyote has been hanging around, it better keep away from our wild baby rabbit. The healthy looking coyote passed thru here yesterday, good thing he was moving fast because I have a .22 bullet for him should he make himself a good target! I saw it last nite(the rabbit). Hubby fed the horses this morning for me when he left for work, it was thunderstorming and he offered. Sometimes he can be such a sweetie. He said he saw the one tiny rabbit out in the pasture inside the horse run-in shelter. I’ll take some carrots and wilted lettuce out for the little feller after the rain stops. We have declared no rabbits on the menu here (for now!) I’ll give them refuge and hunt elsewhere.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Maybe today we’ll have a breeze…..the thunderstorms have made the air thick and heavy, steamy. I feel like I should be putting on a Southern Belle corset, carrying a hand-fan, and speaking with a deep southern drawl………..all while frying up some chicken and drinking sweet tea with lemon. Actually, I have always been fascinated with the deep South, the mysteries and secrets that wind down the Mississippi River into the gator and water moccasin infested swamps with hundred year old legends of Voodoo , rich plantations, and hauntings. Some of the best books Ive read have been set in the deep South.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Hubby is working to the SW of our state today. He thought maybe he could be home by 6-7 pm depending on how work goes. This evening, if toddler terror feels better we are going over to best friend L.s to visit. If he isint up to it, she’ll swing by here for glass of wine before going home from work. Yesterday she was wanting me to go to Super Wal-Mart with her-that was why I noticed the tinge of desperation in her voice when she left me a voicemail!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I should have known it was going to rain today. Just before dark last nite, I fly sprayed the horses real good so it would last a couple of days. Now it wont, grrrrr! I also washed my car, so I bet that hexed it.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I was reading about the UltraMetabolism Diet Plan. Since I am not getting any younger, I thought maybe I should speed up my metabolism. Ummm, no thanks! You should read the scary stuff they want you to eat AND become a vegetarian, thats like sacrilegious to me. Also, give up caffiene, alcohol, coca-cola….I would perish for sure. And really, just how tasteful can tofu, bean sprouts, and green tea be? ICK!

For my praying friends, say one for my friend brian. It appears a Hurricane warning is in effect for Florida. It looks like he is in the path. Y’all have a short and sweet Monday (my least favorite day of the week!)

  1. Thanks for the prayers, it looks like the path is going further north now, less wind, more rain.

First you pray for me and then you diss me. Sure, I know how you carnivores are!!!

Tell, you what. Diane and I were just talking last night about road trips, and since I still have two weeks vacation left this year, we decided that of all our friends, we would most like to meet Barngoddess and Cowgirl.

And you can make Diane a steak, and me a grilled tofu burger with a side of wheatgrass. Yum!!!!

  2. bri-Im glad the storm is veering a bit away from you. yep, i am a happy self proclaimed carnivore! I’d be thrilled to cook diane a steak…but Im not so sure about your ‘order’ that sounds like something my horse would enjoy! but, he also enjoys Little Debbie snack cakes too!

y’all are welcome at the homestead, just give me a lot of notice so I’ll be around!! I think I can manage to cook your dinner too, but we might need to go to Tulsa to buy it first.

  3. Nah! SprawlMart has all a vegetarian could ever need. Soy and rice products.(I don’t eat tofu). My late mother-in-law, a wondeful women who we miss very much, always stressed to Diane, what does he eat?

Let me know how the wee one’s appt. went.

We were thinking in the fall, Sept/Oct, unless you are going up north.

  4. bri-WM is a horror, but a necessity! for you, Id suffer. Are you a scrawny little thing because of your diet? I always associate vegetarians with the one I knew as a college bio professor(he was skinny, on the verge of malnurished I thought!) he taught me college biology when I was 18, thats when I found out some people REALLY dont eat meat! of course, I never saw a real life black person until I was in 4th grade and on a trip with my parents-so I be that tells ya a lot….

Fall is the BEST season in Okla, come during deer season and you can hunt w/ me….or not. Its football season so we should be home.

  5. We go to WM, (I like that) at 8am every Sunday, everyone else is in church. I am 6’2″ and weigh 165ish, the same as when I was in 1982. So yes, a non-meat diet keeps the weight down. And besides, Diane looooves to shop.

    Hunting? Non-meat eater remember.

I was going to ask you about your hubby’s heritage, thanks for the info. How did you both wind up in Okla anyway?

  6. bri-hubby is Okla born and bred, we live in his home town community, he did go to college at the U in Utah after he graduated high school valedictian in ’86. I met him and moved here in ’89.

you and diane are brave for going to WM…somedays its okay but others it is NOT! you can hunt, Ill just eat your game 😉 Ill even clean it too. But it sounds like a good steak wouldnt hurt ya! just joking, as long as your healthy, I say eat what you want, but still…meat is important to me.

toddler terror got some meds and a look over, that was it, oh and a call to help speed up the surgery request….now we wait.

  7. I’m telling ya’ Sunday am, very quiet.

How can it be a town w/o a stoplight.;) I mean really.

Cowgirl’s got a new post, lean on her for a fall trip.

TT, I hope he feels better soon. Believe I know about health insurance. During our worst times, we had to go to a food bank because we could not afford groceries. Rent, car payments and health insurance took all our money. But Diane was so sick, we had to have it.

Guess what the word verification is,”nijiij”

  8. Glad to hear that the specialist appointment went good. And I like meet as well. Don’t think I could become a vegetarian. All of my meals are planned around what kind of meat will be havin’. Beef, chicken, pork, deer, wild turkey etc.

  9. kari-you and I plan our meals the same way! Meat is the most important part, then go from there….must be a redneck thing or something, huh?

  10. I would die with that diet, because I couldn’t be a straight up Veggie. Nor could I give up multiple things ending with “ine”. 😉

Although I do like green tea. With honey.

I made some tasty Italian beast (aka venison) and fried okra for a late lunch yesterday.

  11. cowgirl-yumm venison, a very good meat.
