The Shining

The ICE STORM that hit us here in Oklahoma was not the worse one I’ve seen but it has made travel anywhere dangerous or impossible.

My husband has annoyed me to within an inch of his life. If I do not get out of the house and far away from him today, things may start to look like this:

Just shave ole Jack and give him some blonde hair and it’ll be me in the real life The Shining.

Scooter has been hanging out for the past 3 days inside the barn mostly. He doesnt like freezing rain anymore than I do.

Tomorrow is son #1’s 13th birthday. He has a basketball game out of town too. gah! that has put a kink in our birthday plans for the whole day.

Now for some really great news, I am sure you’ve all watched the National News about the recovery of the 2 MO boys who were kidnapped; OWNBY and HORNBECK . I have followed Hornbeck’s disappearance from the time he went missing 4 1/2 years ago. At one point I even agreed with speculation that maybe Hornbeck could have been a victim of the child predator and murderer Joseph E. Duncan III.  I also followed Ownby’s disappearance when he went missing less than a week ago. The recovery of these 2 boys healthy and alive is a miracle. Ownby’s friend and neighbor, Mitch. who got the description down of the vehicle used in Ownby’s kidnapping provided Law Enforcement with the details to bring these boys home. Mitch deserves a HUGE thank you. Now lets hope this perp lives out the rest of his pathetic life in the general population of prison getting some special treatment from his prison peers.

Now this next story, Jack Whittaker: un-luckiest lottery winner ever . This man won nearly $315 million on Christmas 2002, back then the largest undivided lottery prize in U.S. history. He took his winnings in a lump sum of $113 million after taxes.

Since winning all this dough, Jack Whittaker has had to deal with:

his granddaughter’s death by drug overdose

he has been sued for bouncing checks at Atlantic City, N.J. casinos

he has been ordered to undergo rehab after being arrested on drunken driving charges

his vehicles and business have been burglarized

he was drugged in a Cross Lanes strippers club in 2003 by robbers who took more than $500,000 from his car

he has been sued by the father of an 18-year-old boy, a friend of his granddaughter’s, who was found dead in Whittaker’s house.

113 million dollars! Now this guy says he is broke because thiefs stole all of his money and cannot pay a settlement he is ordered to pay for assaulting a woman.

What an idiot!

  1. Aniin BG,

(((hugs))) We are doing better, I’m slowly getting over this cold. I never get really sick, but just enough so it lingers.

Warm today again in the 80’s, had some rain this morning. Got our grocery shopping done, went to three stores.

Diane is well, thanks for asking. 🙂

Happy birthday to #1 son and hopefully you will survive them all.

  2. We are in. Tommorow is suppose to be icier here than today is. Just so yucky out…ugh.
I was so relieved that those boys were home safe. I always hope and pray that Morgan Nick the little girl in Alma Arkansas by some miracle will come home. I see her mom in Fort Smith on occasion and she always has her yellow ribbon with Morgan’s pic on it. I was hoepful after they did the extreme makoever but so far nothing. But there is still hope.

    Men are typically idiots.

GO SAINTS!!! N’awlins was rocking last night…

OMG if we went to the Superbowl. Ok…in order for us to get there, it would sure help if Seattle WOULD beat Chicago today, if so next weekends game would be in New Orleans..that home field advantage really works in our favor. The sportcasters tell you it’s LOUD in Da Dome…YO have no idea unless you have actually heard the noise. SAINTS fans are the most deserving and it certainly helps to bring money into the local economy which is still struggling.
    Pray!

  4. brian-omg 80 degrees! brat! the sleet has started again its coming down HARD-ack!

kel-the sleet is back, coming down hard again. Im tired of it Morgan Nick was another little girl that Duncan was a possible suspect, I hope she is found one day. Homemakeover gave them a new house I think I remember watching the episode.

rebecca-yes, NO deserves and needs this more than any other team/city

  9. BG..just checking on you seeing how you are doing during this storm, and now more on the way.. hope all are safe and warm and you still have power..the story of these two boys being found is amazing as these usually situations do not have a happy ending. ..by the way I second and third that men are not just idiots but complete morons..Happy Bday to sson#1

  10. Hope things thaw out there soon and tomorrow is a better day. I haven’t watched the forecast for your area lately, but just checked mine–it’s snowing, and will all night, and by mid-day tomorrow we’ll have 4-8″ of snow. We haven’t had any snow since a little in November, so my boys are ecstatic, LOL.

    Stay safe and warm.

  11. Hey there, I’m not sure how I arrived at your blog, but when I saw “horses”, I figured I’d best check you out.

  12. Stay safe!
I think lottery winner is hiding the money so he does not have to pay!
