My obsession with my latest gadget is ebbing…or I am just too dang busy to mess with it.
Hubs is still waiting for his ‘show‘. His odds might be better if he would fold a load of laundry or unload the dishwasher……..
Miss Kitty has been rambunctious the last few days.
I took this photo on Monday, she played with that plastic green ball for hours. She even snuck outside when I was carrying in a case of bottled water through the front doors.
Wee One said, “oh! Kitty ran outside!!” At first I thought, “surely not“. But yep there she was headed down the steps. Kitty did not get far before I called her back up on the porch and she raced back indoors.
Marvin is still not happy about his weight-control food. He is not thrilled with Kitty’s recent wild kitten behavior either……..me thinks he and I both need a vacation from here.

Tell hubby you want a book of coupons that will allow you some freedom whenever you want it. For instance—he can do 3 loads of laudry with a coupon. He can babysit while you shop for YOU!
He can cook dinner one evening AND do dishes!

And that blazed sorrel standing in front of someone’s house – do you know that horse – a neighbor’s perhaps? That’s a beautiful picture and a beautiful horse!
You’d asked about Korean Jindo dogs; there’s a very good site about them at Hyungwon Kang’s Jindo Dog Page (www.Kang.org/Jindo.html) that you might want to visit. Jindos are one of the aboriginal breeds of dogs in Korea, and have been declared National Monument #53 by the Korean government. (Sadly, most other aboriginal varieties were killed off by Japanese during WWII to make furred jackets for their soldiers.) Jindo’s are medium sized (35 – 45lbs) spitz-like hunting dogs indiginous to Jindo Island in southwest Korea. In many ways they resemble a husky, but longer, leaner, and with smaller feet and a broader forehead. It is possible they interbred with the Asian wolf during the first centuries of the breed’s existance. Records indicate that Jindos inhabited the island as far back as 1250AD, and possibly even longer. The breed remained genetically isolated until about 1980, when a bridge was built connecting Jindo Island to the mainland. Since then many Jindos have been exported to other areas of Korea as well as the United States. (During the 1930’s many were taken to Japan, where they were crossed with Japanese breeds, giving rise to the modern Shiba Inu, Akita, Kai-ken, and others.) They are very clean dogs, lacking the usual “doggy” smell, and are extremely loyal and affectionate to their owner, often aloof/suspicious toward anyone else. Their hunting instinct is very strong, and on the island they run lose, and are valued for bringing down prey such as rabbits, deer, raccoons, and birds. They are a primative breed, agile as cats, independent thinking, and with a great need for exercise and entertainment. I got Sunny from my neighbors, who imported her from Korea, and then had to give her up when she was 6 months old because of aggression & behavioral problems. Thankfully, I knew her as a puppy, or I’m not sure she would have bonded with me. She was not socialized during that critical window of time when any young dog should be (she was kept 24hrs/day in the back storage room of their resturant), so when I got her she was virtually unadoptable by anyone else. I did not want to see her go to the pound and be put down, so I took her. Five years later she’s a WONDERFUL dog, but we still have issues we’re working on. I had to find other homes for my rabbits and guinea pigs, and when my last cat passed away at age 21 I knew I couldn’t get any more. Sunny is off-white and looks like the white Jindos in Kang’s article. I keep her on a leash 100% of the time when she’s not in the house, never can let her run lose in the yard until I raise the fence another couple of feet (it’s 6′ now, and poses no problem to her getting over it) and spend about 1 1/2 hrs. exercising her (and me!) a day minimum. She saved my life once when at 1:30am two transients broke into my house while I was in bed. They didn’t get past the kitchen. There was a terrible ruckus, with many screams, and they left the way they came in, slamming the door behind them. Judging from the amount of blood on the floor, doorjam, the door itself, and the pathway leading from my house, they probably had to stop at Harborview Emergency Room to pick up a couple pints of blood before returning to their ‘homes’ under the freeway. They never bothered me again. Sunny is very gentle with all of my other dogs, even my miniature Dachshund, but whenever no one is home I keep her locked in the bedroom with my Boxer mix, just in case. I can never allow anything to happen, because you never know.
Sorry about the long-windedness! Next time I’ll make it shorter. When I talk about Jindos I get all excited because I love Sunny so much. It’s a very labor intensive breed though, and MUCH, different from the breeds we’re typically used to, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone unless they’re really sure of what they’re getting into. It’s important to note that they can leap a very high fence and have an irrepressible yearning for wide open spaces. And they are not usually safe around horses.

trish-merry xmas. awww, thnx for the nice words 🙂 I was curious about the Jindo breed. I am not too familiar with it. Good thing Sunny was there when those homeless peeps tried to break in, SCARY! Your right about the breed, they are only suited for a handful of people….like dobes and rotts. I am more of a doxie, lab, hound type dog person..altho our little Elvis was kinda mean and aggressive w/ strange men.
